Feburary 2026 Monarch's Message

As I write my monthly message it is 14 degrees outside! Yuck! What makes it worse is 3 weeks

ago I spent a week in The Villages in Florida with temperatures reaching 80 degrees. Because of the frigid temperatures and the weather conditions we decided to cancel our January 19 meeting so not to put ourmembers in harms way.

First, I would like to express my thanks to my lady Rhonda for all her help with the Al Sirat Annual Installation. Second, on behalf of all the members of Al Sirat Grotto, another thank you to the Daughters of Mokanna for the dinner. Especially Barbara Gannon our head chef, Joani Huber, Ruth Wagner and Lillian Kovacs. They served 50 delicious Chicken Parmesan dinners prior to the Installation of Officers. It was a pleasure to have the Grand Orator, PM Jeff Davis serve as our Grand Installing Officer, PM Mark Bollinger, PM Brian Spooner, PM Jimmy Dixon and PM Terry

Our February meeting will be on Monday the 16th. We will have a short form initiation.

On Friday, February 27 Al Sirat Grotto and the Daughters of Mokanna will hold our Annual Card Party Night. The card party will be held at PM Ed Leonard’s party center in Medina. The card party is open to all Prophets, Ladies, Daughters, Brothers and Friends. All we ask is that you RSVP to David Darling 216-551-0812 or Lillian Kovacs 216-401-8106 to guarantee we have enough food and adult beverages. We encourage everyone to bring your special appetizer to share. We will also have pizza. We are charging $5.00 a person to help cover the cost of the hall and pizza. The time will be 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. The address is 574 Leisure Lane in Medina. Please come and share fun and fellowship.

There are two more activities coming up. On March 13, 14, 15, 2026 is the OGA (Ohio Grotto Association) Zone Conference in Columbus at the Hampton Inn and Suites Columbus Scioto Downs. PM Joe Huber has more information on this.

On Friday, April 17, 2026, we will be attending a play at the Cassidy Theatre in Parma Hts. Al Sirat Grotto and the Daughters of Mokanna have reserved 30 seats for the Broadway Play of Jesus Christ Superstar. The ticket cost is $23.00. It is, first come, first serve on reservations. Payment is due by March 16th. If by chance, there is more interest we can get more tickets.

Prophets don’t forget your special lady on Valentines Day on February 14th.
